Shuttle Service - Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson Airport To & From the Holiday Inn Athens-University Area

Groome Transportation runs 18 shuttles per day between Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and Athens, including the Holiday Inn Athens-University Area, our conference hotel. Roundtrip fare is currently $74.00 per adult not including gratuity (this represents an increase of $2.00 over what we reported to you last winter).

It is advisable to book your shuttle online via Groome’s website at least three days prior to your flight to Athens—you can book the return shuttle at the same time.

When booking your return shuttle to Atlanta and selecting a pickup location in Athens on the Groome website, be sure to choose Holiday Inn … not Holiday Inn Express. This is important, especially if you’re leaving at an uncivilized hour of the day when you may be the only person departing the conference hotel via Groome.

The shuttle meets Atlanta-bound customers in the hotel lobby, on the lower level of the hotel (i.e., where you checked in). This is also where you’ll be dropped off when you arrive.

When booking your return shuttle to Atlanta, please also remember that you need to allow time after arriving at the airport to make your way from Ground Transportation into the terminal building, check in if you have bags to check and/or have not printed your boarding pass ahead of time, pass through security, and find your gate. Hartsfield-Jackson is the world’s biggest & busiest airport. (That is correct. The world’s. As in Planet Earth’s. Not just Georgia’s, or the Southeast’s, or USA’s.) So you should book your return shuttle departure time from the Holiday Inn for at least 3.5 hours prior to your return flight’s scheduled departure. That allows for 2 hours actual travel time plus the time generally recommended by the airport to clear security and all other pre-flight necessities. (It’s also the rule-of-thumb that many of us who live in Athens and who fly regularly follow, too.)
