SEMLA 2015

October 29-31

Welcome to Athens!

Welcome, SEMLA members, friends, and corporate sponsors, to our 43rd annual meeting.

Your hosts this year are the University of Georgia Libraries. Athens, Ga. in late October tends to remain warm, with daytime highs in the low 80s, and generally dry—it’s the month with the least rainfall here all year. Overnight lows are usually in the mid-to-upper 60s.

Once again this year our meeting events are being generously sponsored by Theodore Front Musical Literature, Inc., with additional support from ArkivMusic and Naxos Music Library. There is a good chance that representatives from these companies may be in attendance, so if you see them, please give them a warm SEMLA welcome and thank them for their generosity, without which this meeting could not happen. Additional significant support is also being provided by the University of Georgia Libraries administration, to whom we are also indebted.

Detailed information about Athens is provided by the UGA Libraries at libs.uga.edu/athens. Happy exploring!

Through September 28, 2015, early registration is $45 and student registration is $20. After September 28, regular registration will be $55 and student registration will be $25. Single-day registration is $25.

Use the menus on this page to find information about Athens, dining options in the downtown area, traveling to the meeting, our hotel, and the program. There is a link to information about the Pauline Shaw Bayne Travel Grant—if you are eligible, please apply.

We look forward to seeing you soon in Athens.

Important Announcement!!

At the SEMLA conference there will be a room set aside for the (free) giveaway of 60 boxes of scores and CDs. These were donated to the UGA Libraries but will not be added because of duplications. The scores comprise keyboard (piano, organ), vocal (opera, popular songs), chamber, orchestral and band music. The CDs are mostly classical, with an emphasis on opera. These could be a great contribution to small libraries in particular. We also offer a collection of miniature scores of composers’ collected works.

Please bring bags/boxes with your name on them, so that you can leave them in the room and not have to haul them around all day.
