The Southeast Chapter of the Music Library Association, Inc. (SEMLA), is a non-stock, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the establishment, use, and growth of music libraries and collections of music materials in the Southeast. It encourages communication and cooperation with libraries and music collections not affiliated with the Music Library Association to determine how the Chapter may be of assistance to the individual library. SEMLA provides a forum for the exchange of ideas regarding all aspects of work with music materials. The organization also encourages activities to improve the organization, administration, holdings, and public services of such libraries and collections. The region covered by the Chapter includes the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee, as well as the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
